real important things made accessible. what can i say?, aside
from a 'big thank you', i say just go on doing what you are
doing. i liked the 'studio visits' part and basically the
whole thing in general. jill's interview has a lot of familiar
dilemnas in them, sort of comforting to stumble upon some
parallelisms despite the distance. i haven't gone through all
the other previous features yet so i'm looking forward to
going through them. it's unfortunate that you could only
feature artists who are locally within your reach. in anycase
you're already doing the global community a big favor by just
setting up this site. may the deity of your choice blees you
more.

Comments: I think that your article on Rwanda (in C3I) missed the point in a certain respect. The IMF marches in to "Third World" countries and manipulates the economy. Then successful minorites like the Tutsis, whatever their degree of guilt or innocence, could not be position to manipulate governments/financial markets as the statist bankers/Insiders can. They are then blamed for a country's problems, and through "mass action" the middle class, or elites who rival the statist bankers/Insider politicians are eliminated. I am not necessarily suggesting that this genocide was planned, I do not know for sure, but when people are divided against one another the tyrannous agenda of the IMF austerity/globalization. Is this not how manipulation works on a world-wide scale? Other than that disagreement, your article was interesting and disturbing.

Thankyou.

I've known Jill quite sometime, in fact I still teach at the Santa Monica College of Design, Art and Architecture where she taught for a while. I consider Jill to be one of the finest artists and thinkers that LA has ever produced. I admire her greatly and I admire the format and content of your site. You are a great contribution to the art community in general but specifically (in my opinion) much needed in LA. Thanks.

Re Studio Visit w/Jill Giegerich, great job. I also am skeptical
about the WWW and am happy to find an intelligent informative
art journal. Could totally relate to comments in the interview
about the sorry condition of art students in today's institutions
and COMPLETELY agree that the younger they are the more fucked
up they get. How can you ever get past that debilitating fear if
you come into school in a completely vulnerable position? Here @
Art Center they're starting to take them in way too young for the
purpose of keeping enrollment up. $$$$$$$ We need more teachers
and artists to help out the students and not pretend that they know
what the fuck they're doing all the time. Amazing proposition about
mentoring young artists. Competition is only contributing to the
capitalist mode of production and art as a commodity and is strangling
the artist and contributing to their intense fear. How about a talk
w/ Fred Dewey about the impact of new technologies on art, including
this journal?
THANKS.

Nice to see you providing this kind of attention to local
artists from several different angles. I think you're got
the first good on line art mag since Art Commotion. I plan
to place a mention and a link in our Cool Art Sites section
sometime this month. Congratulations on the good work.

congratulations!
Just read the Patty Faure interview - outstanding
Also enjoyed Tim Ebner's studio visit.
One suggestion - the downloading may be faster if the images
were in low res, expandable to high resolution large image as
one chooses. Will look forward to future issues.

JUST FINISHED MITCHELL AND TIM'S CONVERSATION -I THOUGHT I FINISHED LAST NIGHT BUT THERE WERE MORE PAGES AND THIS TIME I LISTENED TO THE AUDIO. SOMETIMES IT TAKES INFINITE PATIENCE TO LOAD THE AUDIO BUT THE RESULT WAS SENSATIONAL. WITHIN THE LAST WEEK I READ ERIC FISCHL INTERVIEW IN ART IN AMERICA AND NOW TIM EBNER. I COULD ALMOST FEEL THE STRUGGLE WITHIN BOTH ARTISTS. COULD THIS POSSIBLY BE AN INDICTMENT AGAINST THE INSTITUTION (CAL ARTS) NOT RECOGNIZING THE POTENTIAL AND LEAVING EACH ARTIST THROUGH THEIR OWN DETERMINATION TO SOMEHOW COME TO GRIPS WITH WHAT THE INSTITUTION COULD HAVE HELPED EARLY ON? IT TOOK ERIC FISCHL A TRIP TO ROME TO RECONNECT WITH THE PAST AND TIM A COMPLETE TURNAROUND TO FACE HIS OWN ARCHETYPAL DEMONS. OR AM I READING TOO MUCH INTO THIS. At any rate, thanks Mitchell for your masterful interviews both with Patricia and Tim.
